In this sun-drenched corner of the south of France, you'll find sandy beaches lapped by the Mediterranean sea, wild open spaces in the Cevennes hills, monasteries and castles for Languedoc sightseeing, and vineyards where you can taste some of the best Languedoc wines around.

Bordering the Mediterranean is about 60 miles of coastline, which stretches between the hauntingly beautiful region known as the Camargue, and the tree-lined Canal du Midi.

The landscape of Herault starts craggy and beautiful in the southern part of the Massif Central and descends gently until it opens like an amphitheatre onto the Mediterranean coast. With its lakes and saltwater lagoons, gorges and rivers, mountains and beaches, sunny climate and cultural attractions, Herault is a magnet for tourists from all over Europe.

Situated just eight kilometres to the west of Gignac with Larzac to the south, Clermont l'Herault is a busy market town set in beautiful countryside surrounded by olive groves. It is just a thirty minute drive from Montpellier and forty kilometres from the sea. The swimmers and sunbathers do not miss out here as there is a beautiful lake in nearby Salagou which offers fishing, watersports and horse riding facilities.

The town has a market every Wednesday morning selling fresh local produce and various arts and crafts.

The pretty village of St Guilhem le Desert is situated just North of Gignac, a little east of the new A75 motorway.

Montpellier is one of the liveliest cities in the south of France, and the capital of the Languedoc Roussillon. Montpellier is a fascinating city and a wonderful place to visit.

Sete is the capital of the Pays de Thau, basking in the 300 days of sunshine it enjoys every year. It is the ideal departure point for a voyage of discovery into the most prominent sites of the region.

Sete presents an impressive menu of local specialties such as "bourride" (monkfish in aioli sauce), pork stuffed mussels and squid, cuttlefish in tomato and aioli sauce, tielles (octopus/tomato pie), oysters and other shellfish delicacies.

Nestled in the Cevennes hills, this villa is located in the lovely village of Soubes near Lodeve, 45 minutes from the regional city of Montpellier and sandy Mediterranean beaches,in the wine making region of Herault.

There are many walks to enjoy, particularly along the river to the village with it's cafes and restaurants.

The Medieval town of Lodeve with it's market, shops and restaurants is 6 km from the villa.

The villa is ideally situated for enjoying the peace of the countryside, swimming in the Salagou Lake, tasting the local wines or simply relaxing with a book by the pool.

45 km to Montpellier airport and Béziers airport.
