Les Grands Buffets, Narbonne

This place is a big surprise, not so much for its food – which is excellent, by the way – as its location: in the same 1980’s complex as the ice rink and the swimming pool of Narbonne. Avoid the crowds waiting to buy tickets for their chosen pastime and turn right to enter what appears to be a turn-of-the-century Parisian brasserie, all copper, brass and polished wood. For a set price, you can eat all you want including fish, meat, vegetarian, French, exotic, Asian etc. The sea food is particularly impressive and the desserts are manifold and to die for. Best to book beforehand as Les Grands Buffets is a secret no longer.
