Market St Chinian

The market at the picturesque town of St Chinian is one of the best in the region. It's full of great things to buy, particularly local produce, but the range of stalls is wide. There are the usual stalls you would expect at a market where you can find makeup, accessories, houseware etc but because this is St Chinian, you will also find English food and books, Vietnamese and Chinese takeaway food, even roast potatoes! Local produce includes Mediterranean vegetables and seafood, myriad cheeses, huge loaves of bread that need to be cut down before you can take them home, at least a dozen different blends of olives, charcuterie (which in this region also includes donkey and wild boar sausages!) and amazing cuts of meat.

All of the stallholders are extremely friendly and are pleased to help you. Many of them speak a bit of English so it's very easy to end up having a 20 minute conversation. The market is right in the centre of St Chinian, surrounded by cafés, bars and restaurants - always helpful after a busy morning wandering around so many stalls.

St Chinian market is on Thursday mornings but the biggest one is Sunday morning. Don't forget markets close down at midday.
