Plage de l’Espiguette
The Plage de l’Espiguette is always on everyone’s “Favourite beaches” list, and there is good reason for it. Being an almost completely untouched beach, with 20km of golden sand, crystal clear and shallow water, sand dunes backed by lush green vegetation and lagoons, all of which makes it a favourite amongst tourists and locals alike.
At Espiguette you will find lots of wide open spaces, but little to no shade, so be sure to pack your umbrella. All too often a beach is overwhelmed with bars, restaurants and shops; Espiguette is the opposite of this and has very limited facilities - only 2 shacks for food and drink, and a lighthouse in the distance; making it the perfect place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. This beach is also very popular with families thanks to its tranquility and shallow water, perfect for your younger children. If you’re into watersports, then this is also a great place to start as the beach offers a variety of activities.
Getting to Espiguette is very simple, and is made even easier thanks to its 2 carparks (one of which is free, the other costing 6euros a day). This beach accommodates everyone, even nudists! If you walk about 1 mile to the left you will reach the nudist part of the beach, but don’t worry, everyone is very discreet and respectful so you won’t spot any naked people wandering along the family area.
