An elegant, refined property that has been tastefully renovated to reflect its aristocratic origins but with 21st century facilities. What I particularly loved about Chateau Torro was the way the elegance and refinement were tempered by the whole estate being family- and child-friendly. There are loads of activities available here ranging from a visit to the chickens and goats to an exacting game of squash or tennis. The pool is without doubt the biggest I have ever seen in private hands but again, the owners have considered the needs of children by including a dedicated kiddies' pool. Fabulous venue for an extended family holiday, weddings or other events.

An elegant, beautifully refurbished chateau with great facilitieswhich will delight all its guests. Chateau Torro is a listed French historical monument.
The chateau sleeps up to 15 in 9 twin/double bedrooms with en suite. In addition there is a newly refurbished farmhouse with a further 7 bedrooms to sleep 15 guests, allowing for a total of 29 guests in all.
The entire estate has been lovingly restored to its former glory and is furnished with both modern and traditional Provencal furnishings. But the beautiful formal gardens and interiors are complemented with lots that children and the young-at-heart will appreciate - goats and chickens, a playground, huge lawns for running aaround on for the kiddies. A professional squash court, well-maintained tennis court, basketball and volleyball courts and fitness gym for the older guests. Plus, a huge swimming pool and kiddies' paddling pool.
Guests at this historic 18th century chateau will be pleased to know that the cooking, heating and telecommunications facilities are all 21st century.
The wonderful, fully enclosed landscape embraces 17 hectares of mature parkland, elegant formal gardens, orchards, streams and an exciting range of sporting facilities including squash, tennis and basketball, a very large swimming pool and a fully equipped gym. The Château de Torro itself sits at the end of a long avenue of cypress trees complete with an ornamental fountain.
There’s so much to offer within the extensive grounds of Chateau de Torro, however, being perfectly located in the heart of the Rhone Valley, an area of France steeped in history and tradition, this chateau is a perfect base for exploring the myriad ancient towns and villages in the region, as well as the famous vineyards this area of France has to offer.

Chateau Interior:
With all 850m² of the Château having been restored to its former 18th Century glory the owners then furnished it with beautiful Modern and Provencal furniture and art. However, the Château's cooking, heating, cooling, telecommunication, electrical and plumbing systems are definitely 21st century!
With three large reception rooms, a library, a large 15 person dining room and a large informal dining kitchen, the chateau is certainly spacious. The Château's rustic internal courtyard is perfect for al fresco meals and the scents and sounds of the fountains, aviaries and jasmine-covered walls set a wonderful scene.
The Château has a fully equipped home-cinema which includes a 55" LED screen, surround sound, DVD, Bluray, Satellite TV and music system.
There are 3 large master bedroom suites (three King sized beds) – one suite on the ground floor and two on the first floor – all en-suite with a separate shower. Six further bedrooms (four king sized beds and two with twin beds) are on the second floor. Each has its own en-suite bathroom (with showers over the bath) tiled with lovely Provençal tiles.

Outside Grounds
The more sporty guests can use the gym, play squash, tennis, basket ball, or swim at any time of day or night. And the tennis and basketball courts are also floodlit ! The less sporting can take an enjoyable walk in the extensive grounds or settle for a genteel game of croquet, badminton or volleyball on the especially dedicated lawns.
And of course the marvellous "mirror" swimming pool (25mx10mx4.5m) and its adjoining children's pool (3mx3mx0.6m), is a wonderful place to lounge. This area also provides an outdoor shower and a spacious, open dining Orangerie/Pavillion and attached sitting room and kitchen/barbecue). There are separate changing rooms, with shower and WC facility next to the pool area, so you need never leave!

You will not go hungry in this region of France with its specialties of truffles, calissons, melons and wide variety of wine. Chefs (not included) make pilgrimages from near and far to select the cream of the crop from Provence.
Guests can enjoy the riches of the region by visiting the picturesque markets of the nearby towns and villages. Local farmers bring their baskets of seasonal produce to sell directly from the traditional wooden trestle tables, placed under a canopy of plane trees.
If you feel the need to leave the glorious grounds of the château, there are activities beyond the gates. You can canoe down the river and take in the peaceful scenery.
The Chef (not included) can prepare a picnic for you to enjoy among the vineyards and orchards on the river banks. For the more active: horse riding, hiking, cycling and skiing can be arranged. There are also several nearby golf courses.
Music lovers will already know of the world-class operas and concerts that take place in the region. In Vaison la Romaine and Orange, concerts are held in the historic Roman theatres.
The Summer Arts Festival in the old papal city of Avignon is famous for its films, theatre and street performers. And let’s not forget bullfighting.
The stunning setting of two of the most intact Roman arenas in France - Nimes and Arles – is perfect for watching the toreadors and the bulls act out their ancient ritual.
The area is steeped in history. There are ruins, ancient villages, monuments, museums, medieval villages and towns and unchanged countryside to see and explore. The influence of Greek and Roman involvement over the last 2500 years is obvious everywhere.
The local village is just 2km away and has all basic amenities such us bar, cafe, pizzeria, bank and medical centre.
