The house is located within walking distance of a couple of restaurants, a local shop and the Canal du Midi.
About Maison Enserune
Maison Enserune has remained a favourite of ours for many years. It's charming, inviting and very comfortable, as well as being very well-equipped and offers 4 air-conditioned bedrooms, 2 lounge areas, 2 bathrooms, a large kitchen and plenty of outside space.
The house has been renovated, but it has retained many of its original features, such as the beamed ceilings and traditional floor tiles. The overall decor of the house is traditional with a modern twist, making it a delightful place to spend your holiday.
Enter the property into the large open-plan wood-beamed kitchen/living/dining room that opens onto the terrace and private pool via beautiful French doors. On the ground floor, you'll also find a second lounge area which is ideal for children and a WC. This second lounge area leads up to an air-conditioned twin bedroom.
The kitchen has everything that you'll need to cook a delicious meal with local ingredients, thanks to the oven, hobs, dishwasher, large fridge/freezer and small second fridge.
The lounge has two comfortable sofas, a TV set up with UK satellite channels as well as French channels.
The second lounge area/games room has a 40" TV set up for PS3 games and French TV.
On the first floor are the 3 remaining bedrooms. The first has a King-size bed with an attached dressing room/baby room (cot available) and an en-suite bathroom with a shower, WC and basin. The second bedroom has a King-size bed and the third has twin beds - all of the bedrooms are air-conditioned. There is also a family bathroom on this floor with bath/shower, WC and basin.
Outside, you'll find a private swimming pool of 7m x 5.5m x 2.1m which has a saltwater chlorination system (an automated chlorine and PH system that uses very low chlorine levels) which is essential for allergy sufferers. The depth of pool is from 3 feet to 7 feet 6 inches.
There is a South-facing terrace, a BBQ area, garden furniture, shaded eating area and sun loungers.

The village has a couple of fantastic restaurants, our favourite being Les Platanes which is opposite the house - their menu is varied and delicious and the owners are lovely people from New Zealand who will be happy to host you. There is a local shop which sells basic items and a larger supermarket is only a few minutes away by car, in Capestang. There are tennis courts if you’re looking for a fun afternoon activity, as well as plenty of grassy spots along the Canal to have a picnic.
The bustling town of Béziers is about 20 minutes away by car and is a fantastic place for a day (or night!) out. There are countless restaurants and bars with gorgeous terraces in the sun, as well as plenty of beautiful independent artisanal shops in the maze of cobble-stoned roads that make up the historical centre. The cathedral (and the view that come with it) is a must-see. There are events and festivals that are all a lot of fun throughout the summer - be sure to check out the Allées Paul Riquet every Thursday night for a wine tasting, the cathedral for the nightly Sons et Lumières show and, of course, the various markets throughout the week.
Another fantastic spot that we recommend visiting is Pézenas - it’s about 40km away from Poilhes but is well-worth the drive. It’s a very beautiful town that’s famous for its cobble-stoned streets and arty independent shops. The Saturday market is a must-visit as they sell absolutely everything from local honey and wine, to beautiful Bohemian clothing and modern gadgets. Don’t forget to pick up a wonderful woven basket bag or a hand-made ceramic bowl to pop your local olives in.
You can’t visit the South of France without also visiting the beaches - the coast is 20km away and there are plenty of beaches to choose from. Valras, Narbonne, Vias and Agde are all great choices if you’re looking for activities, adventure, busy bars, restaurants and entertainment. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, then Sérignan or Vendres is for you. There are many more beaches in the area, too many to mention, so have a little explore and you’ll find the perfect one for you.
Finally, if you’re looking for adventure, then head to the mountains, more specifically, Roquebrun and its surrounding. There’s river swimming, kayaking, mountain climbing, BMXing, hiking and paddle boarding opportunities. Beautiful villages to visit include Roquebrun, Cessenon-sur-Orb, Vieussan, Saint Chinian and Olargues.
We have plenty more recommendations of must-see locations on the website under the South of France tab, but feel free to get in touch if you’d like more information.

I wanted to say thank you so much for all your efforts and ensuring we maximised opportunities on our holiday. We all had a glorious time! My 8 year old daughter described our time there as "epic". A fabulous holiday with lots of special memories. We really appreciated all your help and efficiency.
Or more precisely, rocks, sea and sun. These are the elements that persuaded my wife and I to buy our lovely house in Poilhes. Julia is a geologist and we are both mad about watersports so there is more than enough to keep us busy when we come down to Herault. The Languedoc is home to some of the most fascinating geological sites in the northern hemisphere, with ancient volcanoes at Cap d’Agde and the Montagnes Noires being all that now remain of a massive chain of mountains that were once comparable to the Himalayas.
This is a spacious, airy house with a good-sized pool, Sky TV, WiFi, decent furnishings and a good kitchen; these all go to make this a great place to spend one's holiday. Poilhes offers some excellent bars and restaurants and the growing tourist trade in the local area has encouraged restaurateurs to be more adventurous in their choice of cuisine and ambiance.
We shall continue to enjoy the delights of this amazing corner of France and we welcome you to do so too.
We had a great time as a family. Pool is a nice size and A/C in the bedrooms was highly appreciated. The village is really nice, three great restaurants in walking distance and the local town a short drive away. The whole process was very easy and we will for sure look to book again in the future.

I would say we loved the actual look of the villa, the beams, the stairwells etc. Everything was very good, all clean and in working order.
The property was accurate in its description and was good value for money. The booking procedure and service was excellent and efficient!
" The property description and photos were accurate and our expectations were matched. It is good value for money and the quality of equipment in the property was all OK. Our impression of the cleanliness on arrival was good. Overall lovely location and a very pleasant experience. Great family accommodation which we would consider to return to in the future."
