About Villa Scandinavia

Villa Scandinavia is a wonderful property for families looking to spend some quality time together in the South of France. There are many aspects of this villa that make it the perfect place for relaxation, such as the south-facing terraces that offer uninterrupted panoramic views over the ever-changing colours of the vineyards leading down to the shimmering Mediterranean in the distance.

This property is a luxury villa with a private swimming pool - it offers panoramic views and is set in an idyllic location amongst vineyards in the pretty village of Cabrerolles, near Beziers in the wine region of the Languedoc.

The villa was built with attention to detail and has a Scandinavian feel with the use of quality materials and wood throughout. The Languedoc has the highest concentration of vineyards in the world and Cabrerolles is particularly well placed for wine tasting. There are two vineyards of note in the village and many more surrounding it.

The property consists of 2 separate self-contained apartments, each with two double bedrooms with an option of a further sofa-bed for extra accommodation. It is well designed for two families holidaying together, and depending on availability and season, each apartment can be rented separately for smaller groups.

The downstairs area of the villa consists of two bedrooms (sleeping a total of 4 people), an open-plan living room with a fully fitted kitchen, and a bathroom with a shower. There is a sofa-bed which could accommodate one or two extra people as required. There are patio doors which lead out onto the terrace and swimming pool with pretty views, and a TV in the lounge.

The upstairs area is a large open-plan kitchen, dining and living area. There are two bedrooms (sleeping a total of 4 people), as well as a sofa-bed for one or two extra people. There is also a bathroom with shower.
This floor has the benefit of a TV with Sky channels, as well as a DVD player - perfect for family movie nights!

You will also find patio doors which open onto the full-length terrace which extends the length of the front of the house. There are patio chairs and loungers to take advantage of the space.

The outside area of the villa is as impressive as the interior, thanks to the private swimming pool (8m x 4m) and a barbecue area for relaxing. There is also a galleried terrace area which offers fantastic views and is perfect for al fresco dining, whether it be in the evening with a chilled glass of local wine, or in the morning with some croissants from the local bakery.

The private swimming pool is fitted with an alarm system which is fully compliant with regulations regarding pool safety. There is also a table tennis table - fantastic!

Location and Map

This marker is for indication purpose only

The property is located in the village of Cabrerolles, 20 mins from Beziers. Very quiet location but with shops and restaurants a short drive away in the villages of Magalas, Faugeres and Laurens, or a little further to the town of Bedarieux.

The property nestles on a hillside in the pretty village of Cabrerolles. A perfect location for lovers of wine and countryside but close enough to the historic towns of Pezenas, Beziers and the coast.

The location gives countless opportunities for activities and day trips either on the doorstep or within easy driving distance. The beautiful region of the Languedoc is well known for its diverse attractions to suit any age or taste and most importantly has 300 sunny days a year.

There are streams, carving out cave systems, and river canyons like the gorges of the Ardèche, the Cèze, the Aude and the Hérault. The river gorges with their clear water and dramatic cliffs are beautiful locations for bathing, picnicking, canoeing, riding, walking and fishing.

Surrounding the house is the protected park of the Haut Languedoc which gives opportunities for walking - here the views are magnificent and the pathways are full of thyme, rosemary and mint growing wild.

There is also biking and mountain biking (there is a track next door to the house), canoeing on the River Orb, horse riding and off-road pursuits, as well as water activities available on the Lac de Salagou and a golf course within easy driving distance.

Beziers (20 mins away)
Beziers has attractive tree-lined boulevards and was the birthplace of Paul Riquet, creator of the Canal du Midi. Indeed, the Canal du Midi flows from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean across the Languedoc with some particularly attractive stretches around Narbonne at Paraza, Roubia and Ventenac.

Pezenas (20 mins away)
The historic town of Pézenas was the home of Molière and is now a UNESCO world heritage site. This beautiful town is steeped in history and culture, and lies at the heart of the Coteaux du Languedoc wine growing region.

Montpellier (50 mins away)
Montpellier, one of the oldest university towns in France which has a very beautiful old quarter and a striking modern area designed by the Catalan architect Bofill. Further west again is the Bassin de Thau, one of France's foremost oyster and mussel producing regions, dominated by the Mont St. Clair on the other side of which is Sète, that vibrant and colourful port renowned for its summer jousting on the canals.

Carcassonne (90 mins away)
The splendid citadel of Carcassonne needs little introduction but few realise it was besieged during the Albigensian crusades as was the picturesque village of Minerve. Other reminders of this era are the ruined castles of the Cathars that are striking witnesses to their tragic history such as Puilaurens, Quéribus and Peyrepertuse.

Coastal Resorts & Beaches (all 30-40 minutes away)

Cap d'Agde
Take time out to visit the ancient Greek city of Cap d'Age, now France's top seaside resort, with great sandy beaches and round-the-clock entertainment. Where fresh water and salt water come together, where the Canal du Midi and the Herault River meet the sea, Le Cap d'Agde, La Cité d'Agde, Le Grau d' Agde and La Tamarissière combine the Mediterranean Sea and holiday fun.

14 km of sandy beaches, 2,500 years of history and heritage, an environment full of natural areas for visits (Canal du Midi, Le Bagnas Nature Reserve, the Undersea Trail), events and a multitude of leisure activities for the entire family: golf, tennis, thalassotherapy, water activities at the marina and nautical centre, Aqualand Park, amusement park for the children, museums, the Casino, Ile des Loisirs ("Leisure Island"), discotheques and restaurants where the chefs prepare enticing dishes with local products of the land and sea.

Valras Plage,Vias Plage,Portiragnes and Serignan are other family sea resorts.

Roquebrun (20 mins away)
This extremely pretty village beside the river Orb is known as 'little Nice', and has a Mediterranean garden planted with 400 species. Here there are opportunities for walking, hiking, rock climbing and canoeing. The high mountainous area between Hérault and Aude is a country of wild natural beauty. Limestone plateaux, covered in scrub, are sliced through by deep canyons, splashed with red ochre on lake shores, pitted with caves and natural craters, and strewn with historic sites - from industrial relics to religious monuments and ancient citadels.

Sète, "The Little Venice of Languedoc"
Between the Mediterranean Sea and the Etang de Thau, separated from Cap d'Agde by twelve kilometres of sandy beaches, Sète is an authentic and colourful authentic fishing port crossed by canals.

Bourride, stuffed squid and mussels, cuttlefish with rouille sauce, tielles, oysters and other seafood platters are all culinary specialities full of the traditions of the town, its fishermen and the surrounding vineyards. During the summer Sète, hosts a famous jousting festival with knights doing battle on the canal.

A little corner of paradise
This place had been on our radar for the past 7 years - finally we made it. And it didn’t disappoint! We stayed for a fortnight in August as a group of two families with kids ranging age 9 to 16 so the flexible accommodation with two independent apartments was perfect, affording privacy whilst enabling communal relaxation (and eating) on either upstairs or downstairs terraces. It was very hot, so the crystal-clear pool was essential from dawn until dusk! The lush garden and panoramic views (right down to the sea) from the cooling, shady, leafy, balconies are a complete delight. The BBQ-zone was great, especially with “a little corner of paradise” to relax with a glass of rosé and simply listen to the sizzle. The house is well equipped to make your stay super relaxing. Coffee machine and multiple fridges a real boon! Table tennis was a great way to work up an eveningappetite. The location of the house is stunning; very verdant despite the fact it hadn’t rained since May! Wander to the meteor crater (pop-up restaurant unfortunately closed during our stay) a must if you are interested in geology and/or wine and the village itself is very charming with the climb up to Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-la-Roque with views giving a real sense of perspective. The nearest shop ‘L’Oustal des Schistes’ is a farm shop/wine/tasting/shop is highly recommended! The local area has lots of variety. We enjoyed a relaxing lunch by the quay in Marseillan, Mediterranean gardens and river swimming at Roquebrun, cooling down in plunge pools at Gorges D’héric; the Saturday morning market and a dinner/shopping evening in Pézenas, beaches at both Sérignan and Castellas near Sète; and tumble-down Cathar castles at Lastours. This villa is seriously relaxing but there are diverse landscapes to explore and beautiful/historic places to visit nearby when you are ready to venture out. Lisa was super helpful both pre-holiday with info about the area and also during our stay- always on hand via WhatsApp to help if we needed anything. Thank you for sharing your wonderful place!

Peaceful butterfly paradise
Fantastically relaxing 2 week break in this very well equipped, spacious home. The pool was a godsend in 35C weather. The butterflies, bats and birds amused and amazed. Lisa is a wonderfully responsive owner with great knowledge of the area. If you get a chance walk up to the Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-la-Roque in the village. A bit steep in places but the views are worth it.

Calm and well equipped split level house in the hills above Bezier.

Lisa is an excellent hostess and very reachable. The house, especially the kitchen , is (almost over) stocked and the house has enough of just about everything, from pool cushions to pool table and chairs. It’s about 20 min drive to any service you might need but that means the house is quiet with hardly any neighbors. Any issues we had with our rental, Lisa was very quick to offer a solution. Note: the house is essentially two separate apartments each equipped with a full bathroom and kitchen, however there’s no inner staircase, only connection by going outside and down the stairs.

    Quiet rural location

Had all the popular facilities, table tennis, swimming pool, uk tv etc. But, as this was the first let of the season we expected the property to be pristine, it wasnt. Please note there is no internal staircase, which could be an issue with children or the elderly, the outside staircase is made of stone tiles.

    Perfect weekend with friends

These two independent apartments positioned one on top of the other do not lack charm! Even if the weather was not good we had an excellent time with a group of 8 people ;) the surroundings are magnificent and Lisa remains attentive, responds quickly, offers support on the activities to do in the region and finds a way to manage when you have a small problem. A perfect host!
