Mazan

Mazan is a small, peaceful village rejoicing in beautiful views and myriad wildlife. Its lovely chateau which has now been extensively renovated to become a luxury hotel, once belonged to the de Sade family and its famous scion (or infamous, if you prefer, but certainly misunderstood),  Donatien-Alphonse-Francois, the Marquis de Sade.

If you’re looking to spend the day exploring the outdoors, then what better way to do it than mountain-biking, horse-riding, fishing or playing tennis, all of which are catered for by this lovely village? You could also spend the afternoon on a golf course, and then finish the day in one of the delicious restaurants in Mazan such as Le Mas de la Bonoty, Saveurs des Iles and Crillon le Brave.

There are lots of places to be explored outside Mazan. Why not take a short drive (about 30km) to Avignon and visit Le Palais des Papes, together with Le Pont d’Avignon? You can also visit the Roman theatre in Orange which is just 27km away from your holiday villa in Mazan.

For a gentle stroll, take a walk along the Canal de Carpentras either 'en famille' or with a guided tour, where you will be sure to discover some amazing facts about the area and the Canal itself.
