Mallemort
Picturesque Mallemort is a small and quiet village, famous for its suspension bridge over the river Durance. Every Friday there is a local market with fresh products and the restaurant in the old town is worth a visit as meats are cooked on an open fire. Just up the road is a good golf course at Pont Royal. with three supermarkets, a small town centre, church, a couple of bars, three very good bakers and an excellent tourist office.
Within easy reach is Avignon with its historic centre and shopping. At the heart of Avignon is the Place de l’Horloge, a huge square shaded by plane trees and hosting loads of cafés and restaurants. Later in the day the place comes alive with street musicians, jugglers and portrait painters. Aix en Provence is also just up the road to explore as well as a variety of smaller towns like Salon, St Remy and Arles. Arles is a gorgeous city in the Bouches-du-Rhone Departement. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is the city with the most roman monuments after Rome itself.
