St. Cyprien
St. Cyprien, or 'St-Cyp' as it is affectionately known by all those visitors who return year after year, is a great French seaside resort and the third largest leisure marina in the country. All the good things you dream of when you imagine a Mediterranean resort are here. It's great for kids with loads of stuff to do, either down on the beach, in the water, at the swimming pool, at the stadium, or at the various playgrounds which feature in the town. For the big kids - and grown ups! - there's plenty of water-sports, including windsurfing, jetskiing, kitesurfing and on land there's tennis, golf, horse-riding, fitness training, to name but a few of the many activities on offer.
To get about or just to get your bearings, take Le Petit Train Touristique around the town. You can even hire a horse-drawn carriage, which the kids will love. Bikes are available for hire, or for something a little different, try a Segway ('gyropodes' in French), which is a 2-wheeled electric scooter that you stand up on - great fun for getting about.
St-Cyp's proximity to Spain means you can take a day's excursion by boat from the port to go dolphin-watching and then sail down to the Costa Brava.
If, after all that hard work enjoying yourself in the Mediterranean sun, you fancy something a touch more intellectual, then visit the Collections St-Cyprien, a surprisingly good contemporary art collection.
For trips out, consider La Cité de Carcassonne, or even Barcelona, only about 2 hours away over the other side of the Pyrenees - very easy to get to.
As a holiday venue, St-Cyp is hard to beat!
