Carnival of Limoux
The carnival in Limoux is the longest carnival in the world and takes place every Saturday and Sunday from January through to March. This means that Limoux is 'en fete' for up to 6 weeks!
His Majesty King Carnival is greeted by millers dressed in white trousers with red scarves and clogs. There are musicians, decorated floats and lots of colourful carnival costumes. The Limoux Carnival is not just a spectacle, not even just a parade, it is folklore in action in its purest form. Well, it's certainly worth checking out either way as it is one of the most famous and important festivals in the region.
