The tranquillity and peace of this property have to be experienced to be believed! Situated next to a conservation area, the birdlife is amazing. If you want to view hoopoes, nightingales (Rossignols!), golden orioles, swallows, redstarts and bee eaters from the comfort of your terrace then this is the place for you. The gite has been imaginatively recreated from old workers' cottages and features air conditioning in all the bedrooms. The thriving village of Quarante is just up the road (up a hill) so you are within easy reach of a bakery and other shops. Loads of things to do and see in the area and only 25 minutes from the long, sandy and uncrowded beaches of the Languedoc.

The property is conveniently located just outside a lovely village with all the amenities you might need for an enjoyable and relaxing stay. At just a 3 minute drive or a 10 minute walk you will find a bakery, 2 butchers, 2 mini-markets, a bar, and a pharmacy.
Just next door is a conservation area so there is a big selection of birdlife to observe.

The Canal du Midi, a world heritage site, is situated 1 mile away and here you will find a range of activities…. there are a number of well-regarded restaurants along the canal which can be accessed by cycling along the towpaths, by boat or by car. If cycling is your thing but you prefer the road then this is the place to be. With the Tour de France often passing through the area in mid July you will find that the roads here are second to none for cycling whatever level you enjoy it at. Secure cycle storage is available whether you choose to bring your own bike or hire locally. Should you prefer mountain biking, there are miles of woodland trails in the area with routes graded for ability in nearby Saint Chinian. Similarly, there are walking trails if you prefer to go by foot.

If a high adrenalin activity is what you’re looking for, there are a host of opportunities within easy striking distance of Saint Privat such as kayaking at Roquebrun or jet skiing, jet boating and paddle boarding at Gruissan plage, Narbonne. At the other end of the spectrum, there are daily markets throughout the region along with wine-tasting at the many ‘caves’ in this wine-rich region.
