Le Grand Rieu is a delightful old farmhouse built in the traditional style of the region, renovated with care and now presenting a wonderful holiday home. If you value peace and seclusion then Le Grand Rieu is just what you are looking for. Set within 7 acres you will have no neighbours or traffic noise to disturb your rural idyll. And yet, the property is only 30 minutes from Bergerac and its airport. The property benefits from a large pool and lots of outdoor dining and relaxing space. 3 bedrooms to sleep 6 people. Suitable for people with reduced mobility (but probably not wheelchairs).

About Grand Rieu

The property is a lovingly converted old farmhouse nestled in the countryside of Perigord, Dordogne. Originally built in 1871 the owners of the last century and a half have retained a lot of original features including the old well and a tobacco drying barn.
You will be delighted by the sense of privacy and seclusion. Then you will be impressed by the feeling of spaciousness and light inside the house. All the rooms, particularly the salon/dining area, are large and well-appointed with beautiful tiling throughout.
Three double bedrooms offering ample accommodation for up to 6 guests.
The garden is surrounded by high laurel bushes to guarantee privacy and the grounds stretch to 7 acres.
The kitchen is equipped with gas bottle hob, electric oven, slow cooker, toaster, kettle, all cutlery pots pans etc. Large, fridge/freezer. Mixture of glasses. Separate indoor dining table, two separate outside tables and chairs for Alfresco dining. Easily accommodates six. There is also a separate utility/wash room and outdoor washing line.

Le Grand Rieu is located in the centre of what is known as the 'French Bastide Circuit'. There are many villages with traditional markets, steeped in history and nearly all of them are up on 'a mount'. The 'Bastide circuit' is definitely worth exploring for its many medieval festivals and displays.

The river Garonne is also in the vicinity at about 8 miles south of us at the village of Castelmoron-Sur-Lot. Here you can fish, hire kayaks and small boats, swim in the river. The river Dordogne is located at Bergerac and is a 'must-see' place.

There are loads of chateaux to visit and wine tours to do!

A truly lovely area where the pace is just that bit slower and there are no traffic jams to worry about.
