Right on the beach and a few minutes walk to the harbour where thare are lots of restaurants. There is also a restaurant next to the apartments. An ideal beach apartment.
Meze is a traditional and pretty quiet fishing village in southern France, and is surrounded by vineyards and the Etang de Thau, which is an enclosed lagoon with direct access to the Mediterranean waters. It is a stronghold of the mussel and oyster farming and provides an important sporting and cultural life.
The family-friendly sandy beaches are supervised (lifeguards) in summer and ideal for small children. The water is quiet and safe, and monitored weekly for water quality.
The climate is Mediterranean: mild winters, warm pleasant summers, relatively little rainfall.
The old town of Meze is worth exploring, with its large weekly markets (Thursdays and Sundays),
The daily indoor market supplies local produce and fish.
Around the port there are many restaurants where you can enjoy fresh seafood and local produce. In summer there is a night market with many stalls and artists. (Every Thursday).
Meze has a sailing school with a good reputation (even kite-surfing, catamaran ...) and a tennis facility on the waterfront. These facilities are all within easy walking distance. Fishing and boating trips are other possible activities. Sights and attractions are available for all ages in the surrounding environment: bike paths, skate park, paint ball, climbing, forest park, amusement park, dinosaur park, ruins of the Roman times, wineries, walks (Parc des Cevennes, garrigue ...)
The estate of Noilly Prat in Marseillan is worth a visit. Interesting nearby cities such as Montpellier (TGV to Lyon and Paris), Sete (major port), Pezenas (Artist city), Bézier with the Canal du Midi, Carcassonne, Nimes, Cap d’Agde is within easy distance and is famous for its SCUBA, boating and snorkelling, It is a marine reserve area…..beautiful marine flora and fauna.
The tourist office at the harbour is very well equipped. There are festivals and sporting events year round.
Classical concerts in the Abbaye de Valmagne, or modern concerts in the Théâtre de la Mer, Sete.
Meze is a very French little town and offers sports, culture or simply sun, sea and good wine.
The Tourist office, shops, farmer's market, restaurants, sailing school (even kite-surfing, catamaran ...) and tennis courts are nearby and easily reached on foot.
Nearest Beach: beach at 20 Metres
Car: not really necessary
Meze is a popular tourist resort situated slightly inland just behind Sete on the Bassin de Thau lake with its sandy shores. The Bassin (or Etang) de Thau Basin is a twenty metre expanse of lagoon full of brackish water separated from the sea by a narrow stretch of sand. Famous for ostreiculture (oyster farming.) As well as offering excellent conditions for the culture of oysters and other shellfish it is well used by locals and tourists for fishing and a large variety of water sports.
A charming harbour town full of restaurants, it comes as no surprise that the main streets in Meze are lined with stalls selling the very freshest shellfish. With beautiful surrounding countryside and a mountain backdrop, the Mediterranean beaches are just a few kilometres away.
This extraordinary town is also famous for its remains of nests with fossilised dinosaur eggs which were discovered only a few years ago on the road to Montagnac. There is now a museum situated in a large natural park which extends over 36 kilometres. You can walk through a 12 acre pine forest and travel back millions of years viewing all sorts of exhibits including a skeleton of a giant brachiosaurus which was unearthed here.

A great place to stay in Meze!
On our various trips to the south of France we have stayed in some good accommodations and some not-so-good. We found this condo in Meze on our 2013 trip. It is a great condo, and a great value as well. Situated on the ground floor of a relatively new, modern gated facility it is very spacious, clean and well kept. It comes with all the amenities we look for to make ourselves feel right at home when we travel, and the huge deck was a real bonus. Located within easy walking distance to everything from beaches to markets to shopping to be wonderful little inner harbour restaurants meant that we could leave the car in the secured parking lot for days at a time. Arranging the rental with the owner was quick and easy, and the local key holder was professional and always accessible for questions. We have confidently recommended the condo to friends traveling in the area.
