Location and Map

Enjoy the magnificent views and romantic ambiance. A perfect summer holiday rental which gives the choice of self catering as the villa is within walking distance of great restaurants in the beautiful old and historic town of Villefranche.

Just as close is the sea and lovely beach adding to a holiday which offers everything your heart desires.

The villa has ample parking and is within easy reach of Nice, Monte Carlo and Italy. Cannes, Vence and Antibes are an easy drive away

Villefranche is situated 4kms from Nice Centre and 7km from Nice International airport. A well kept secret as it retains it's charm due to lack of major hotels nearby.

The train which is 7 minutes away runs all along the coast. Nice or Monaco are ten minutes away or you can be in Italy in 40 minutes.

Drive into the hills and visit Eze or St Paul de Vence. Antibes and Cannes are within easy reach. This area has so much to offer from art, history, luxury and indulgence - whatever your taste.

Villefranche old town dates back to the 12th century and is full of history and good places to eat plus a wonderful beach and sea to swim in.

Villefranche sur Mer is only thirty minutes from Nice International Airport making it an easily accessible location from anywhere.

The Old Town: Harbour and Port
Dating from 1295, Villefranche-sur-Mer is rich in history and beauty. The village and area has a special atmosphere with all the warmth and charm of a fishing village from a bygone age.

The Old city, (dating from the 13th century) is well worth exploring with its narrow and picturesque streets with the facades of houses decorated in the 'trompe l'oeil' style.

Taking a stroll around the harbour and waterfront of Villefranche-sur-Mer rewards the effort with some suberb views and a journey through history.

Villefranche is is a deep water harbour which served as a base for the US Sixth Fleet for a time.

Beach
Villefranche has its own lovely beach and the bay is beautiful for swimming. There are restaurants along the promenade serving wonderful food. My guests at Christmas last year took their roast dinner down and ate it on the beach as the weather can be lovely and famously warm and sunny on New Years day.

Restaurants
There are many lovely restaurants in Villefranche from the high sophistication of the famous Mere Germaine to simple pizza establishments. The manager can fill you in on where to go when you arrive. Click here for recommendations

Chapel Saint-Pierre
The ornamentation of the Chapel Saint-Pierre which is opposite the Welcome Hotel was created by Jean Cocteau. It was a project conceived over more than ten years and finally realised in1957.

Saturday and Sunday
Saturday sees the farmers market at the top of the village in the main gardens of the town.

Every Sunday there is an antiques market in the Place Pollonais.

The Citadel
Built in 1557 on the site of a smaller fort on the orders of Emmanuel Philibert, Duke of Savoy, by his architect, Provana de Leyni.

Villa Kerylos
Is a wonderful replica of a Greek Villa built on the island of Delos at the height of Greek civilization about 2,300 years ago. It is beautiful and well worth a visit. You can take the bus or the train (one stop to Beaulieu) or walk via the sea promenade which will take about a 30 minutes.

The Institute de Francais
Is a world famous French Language School that uses the full-immersion method of learning. Students stay in our apartments on a regular basis.
The Institute de Francais Website
One of the main reasons that Villefranche keeps it's character and charm is due to the lack of big hotels. The local hotels are small and family run. The main hotel which was made famous by Jean Cocteau is the Welcome so please read more by going to the following link: Click here.
The Welcome Hotel

This is a lovely medieval village perched on top of a steep rugged cliff with wonderful views in both directions along the coast. It is only a short distance from Villefranche.

Villefranche sur Mer, Cote d'Azur, South of France

Luxury villa near village beach and restaurants. In an exceptional spot with sensational views of the bay of Villefranche Sur Mer. The Villa has been interior designed to a high standard. This villa has 5 bedrooms and sleeps 10.

"Last spring, an online search for Villefranche villas led our group of seven to Villa Les Fauvettes, and the reality did not disappoint. A more luxurious, relaxing and convenient Riviera location would be hard to imagine. The central location is within walking distance of the Old Town and offers easy driving or rail access to Cannes, Nice, Monaco, Provence and the Italian border. The layout of separate suites within the villa itself afforded privacy between our shared times around the pool and at mealtimes on the expansive terrace. As the sun went down and the lights of Villefranche and Cap Ferrat came on, the views out across the harbour were simply stunning. The Villa was well-maintained, the bedrooms airy and restful, and the large, modern kitchen easy to use. There is ample covered parking off a quiet lane, while the Villa’s lush gardens only add to that sense of opulence and ease that befits a vacation on the Côte d’Azur."
