We are Lisa and Derek and we have been living in Marseillan for over 10 years now successfully operating our self-catering holiday villa and apartment. This keeps us very busy in between occasionally sampling the local beverages!
I am retired from business but keep very busy running our bookings and maintaining swimming pools etc. Lisa works part-time locally as a guide/ interpreter for a well known winery here.
We first came on holiday to Marseillan in 1995 and fell in love with its timeless French charm and the beauty of the surrounding countryside and beaches etc. Marseillan Ville is a picturesque, unspoilt old harbourside village located on the Etang de Thau (a sea water lagoon on the Mediterranean) famous for oysters and seafood. It is often likened to the St. Tropez of 50 years ago! The Canal du Midi starts at Marseillan, originally built in the 17th century to transport the abundance of local wines to the Bordeaux/Atlantic Region of France. You may have seen Marseillan featured on Chef Rick Stein's recent TV series where he travelled down the Canal sampling the local culinary delights here!
Our Villa, ‘Belles de Mai’ with its own private pool, and our entirely separate Garden Apartment 'Beau Jardin' (Ref MARS105) also with its own private pool, are located right on the vineyards, 300 meters from the Lagoon, 1 km from the Port and 3 kms from the long sandy Mediterranean beaches which run between Sete and Cap d'Agde. Both properties are within easy, level walking distance alongside the lagoon to the village centre and harbourside restaurants etc.
There is an excellence choice of sailing and water sports available in Marseillan alongside the famous flamingos! The well-known international marina and top-class golf courses of Cap D'Agde and Beziers are also nearby.

MARS105 - REVIEWS FOR THE VILLAA wonderful place to holiday ! Villa perfect in every way.Derek and Lisa were great hosts. Hope to come again !Shelly, ChelmsfordJust returned from a lovely week. Villa is well appointed, has everything you need and is close enough to the pretty port of Marseillan whilst still being a peaceful and relaxing location. The owners are very helpful and accommodating but not at all intrusive. Would highly recommend this villa. This is a very pleasant. clean and well equipped 3 bedroom Villa, ideal for families and couples alike. Everything was supplied in excellent working order and the owners who are very helpful and pleasant are on hand to deal with any enquiries quickly and efficiently. Marseillan is a lovely little town with some very good restaurants and bars, especially around the port, and the whole area is great for those who like water sports, boating and sailing. A very long and sandy beach is nearby.A fantastic relaxing week, mostly spent at the poolside and the beach. Weather very good and interesting selection of restaurants in Marseillan. Thoroughly enjoyable !We stayed in the apartment for 2 weeks in July (2010). The apartment was beautifully presented and well equipped so that if we didn't want to go out we were very comfortable. The pool was wonderful and exceptionally clean.Marseillan Port is beautiful, with a good amount of restaurants available within an easy 15 min walk. Derek and Lisa make you feel very welcome and have a wealth of local knowledge to offer if you wish to ask them about anything. This peaceful location is ideal if you're looking for a relaxing break away from everything. Fabulous apartment, lovely peaceful location, 5 out of 5!We have stayed in Marseillan Ville before and enjoyed lazy afternoons sipping wine on the harbour in this beautiful little fishing port. This property is not directly in the center of the port town but it is only a short 10 minute walk away, along the stunning Lagoon - 'Etang de Thau'. The walk is along a completely flat path which is well lit at night. The property was ideal for a couple and was very clean with a BBQ terrace outside. The pool was a nice size and totally screened by high hedges in the lovely garden.Compared to the UK, Marseillan Ville was lovely, sunny and warm. We left thoroughly relaxed and in good spirits - a wonderful little hideaway and a great break from city life. Emily and Adam.Lizzie and I would also like to take the opportunity to thank you both for making our Honeymoon a very pleasant and enjoyable event. The property was well equipped and the grounds and pool were beautiful, which provided us with everything we were looking for in order to relax. It was a pleasure to meet you both and we hope to return at some point in the future with either friends or family to stay in your other Villa. We will also recommend your properties to anyone looking to explore the South of France.Regards and Many thanks !!Matt & Lizzie - Cheshire
"A lovely quiet location, about 10 minutes walk from the lovely town of Marseillan. A spacious villa with two terraces, a private pool and a barbecue area. British Sky TV, which was not something we expected. We enjoyed our holiday and our hosts were charming and helpful, I would recommend this villa wholeheartedly."

"Great Villa, great location & beyond expectations
5 out of 5
The villa is in an excellent quiet and safe location within a short walk to Marseillan town with off street parking. The property was better than we expected and was very well equipped with all modern appliances. It was ideally suited to our family of five but would equally be good for two couples with a separate self contained bedroom on the ground floor. We were met on arrival by Derek who was very welcoming and covered all the salient points on the villa and the surrounding areas and sights. The villa was very clean and had been very well looked after by Derek and Lisa who lived nearby, this proved useful when I needed help to work the air conditioning control. Derek also handed to us on arrival a well prepared and comprehensive information pack of places to see, restaurants, maps of towns etc etc. Marseillan as an area has lots to do to suit all tastes, the mussels in the harbour were great, the markets very interesting and the beaches easy to access by car. The local towns of Sete, Meze and Agde are well worth a visit with great food, shops and beaches. A must see, is a visit to Noilly Prat distillery in Marseillan Town as they organise tours in English as well as French languages. It is a very interesting and an alcoholic visit and in my view better than any vineyard. We would not hesitate to recommend Villa Belles de Mai for a holiday and would consider visiting again."

"A week of peace!
4 out of 5
We had a very peaceful week here - a comfortable, clean, well equipped and maintained villa, more than enough indoor space, good outdoor spaces to the front and rear, private and secluded even though it's in the middle of a small estate. The pool is a good size, and we enjoyed having use of the built-in barbecue. The walk into Marseillan Ville is around a mile, takes 20 minutes or so, but it's a beautiful spot - a small but lively town, picturesque harbour with some lovely seafood restaurants, and the Noilly Prat distillery was a really interesting place to visit. It's certainly a place that we'd like to return to in future.:
