A great place to stay for a holiday, especially if 'culture' is your thing, with the historic and lively university town of Aix-en-Provence just five miles away. Here you'll find lots of galleries and museums, and plenty of wonderful restaurants, pavement cafes and shops in and around the old town. Cours Mirabeau in the centre of town is where it all happens: try Le Grillon or Le Cafe du Cours. There are many chic little boutiques as well as larger outlets such as Monoprix (a French chain store excellent for fashions and other goods, all at very affordable prices). Whatever you do, don't miss the famous flower market at Place de l'Hotel on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings. There is another famous weekly market on Place des Precheurs, where vendors come from all over Provence to sell fruit and vegetables as well as curiosities of all kinds.
