Argeliers has all essential amenities and everything is within walking distance from the house.
20 minutes from Beziers.
35 minutes from the nearest beach.
Argeliers is set amongst the reputed vineyards of AOC Minervois, and was the home of Marcellin Albert, leader of the wine-growers’ revolt of 1907.
The whole area is teeming with history, being on the edge of Cathar country; Argeliers itself boasts the remains of a 12th Century chateau and its fortifications.
Argeliers is a peaceful, pretty village, with its central square and shady plane trees, yet still provides all the basic amenities: a Spar minimarket, 2 bakeries, 2 butchers, a post office, a newsagent/tobacconist, a hairdresser and a bar/restaurant, all within easy walking distance.
Slightly further afield is the restaurant Le Chat Qui Pèche, Le Croisade and Le Terminus, while if you feel in need of more excitement, the small town of Capestang is only 15 minutes drive away.
Also on the Canal du Midi, in Capestang you can find more restaurants and bars, a large supermarket, DIY store and petrol station.
Argeliers is a good central location for exploring the scenic, cultural and historic sites of the area with the Minervois on one side and the Corbières on the other.
The Mediterranean sea is only 25km away, with miles of sandy beaches to choose from.
The nearest large town is Narbonne at 17km away; there is an excellent shopping centre and the Cathedral Saint-Just, famous for its flying buttresses, is visible from afar. In Narbonne you can also visit museums dedicated to Archeology, Art and History, and Lapidary.
Béziers, with the newly-opened airport at Vias, is slightly further away, about half an hour’s drive, and stands majestically on a rocky promontory.
Budget airlines fly into Beziers (40 minutes), Montpellier (50 minutes), Perpignan (1 hr), Carcassonne (40 mins), Nimes and Toulouse 90 mins and Barcelona (3 hrs).
The Spanish border is about an hour away.

ARG103 - Comments taken from questionnaire sent to previous guests:" The property matched our expectations, it was lovely. The general quality of the equipment in the property was excellent. The cleanliness of the property on arrival was very clean. "McKerrell ( June 2010 )Pool stays open until the end of October.Previous Guests' Comments - Summer 2009“Just a quick note to say that we had a really wonderful time in France, your house is beautiful and Argeliers great. We enjoyed it so much that we are considering buying a property there ourselves”“Your house is one of the best we have stayed in, and we rent a villa in France/Italy every year”“Just arrived in Argeliers after rather a grim drive from Orleans today. No less than 3 major jams on different stages of the peages, the worst just as we approached Beziers! All forgotten now! The house is absolutely stunning. We were expecting to be impressed but it is so much more spectacular in reality than the photos can convey”“At the halfway point, just wanted to let you know that we are having a fabulous fortnight. Weather has been glorious - uninterrupted sunshine, with temperatures averaging 35 degrees. We absolutely love your house. Much time has been spent just "chilling by the pool". Also some great day trips to Agde, Carcassonne, Minerve and down the coast to St Cyprien and Colliure. Not doing much cooking so making much use of the local restaurants. No problems at all. Managing agents came today to top up the pool and change the linen. Really looking forward to our second week”

" Generally the property description and photo's were accurate, yes. The information pack and folder in the house was very helpful. The property itself was clean and tidy. "
