About Marseillan Maison

A delightful holiday rental house nestled by the small local marina in Marseillan's local port. Sleeps 4 in a double room with wonderful views of the sea and the lagoon to Sète and a further twin room.

The sun comes up facing Marseillan Maison and the double bedroom gets the sun from first thing in the morning. Downstairs on the terrace, you can enjoy breakfast with coffee and croissants sitting at the terrace table or lunch with some wine and cheese. Of course, if you want to have lunch out you can wander a few minutes to one of the many locals port-side restaurants, bars or cafes. Stroll a little further on the flat and you will reach the old village with bakers, grocers, chemists, butchers and even a small supermarket. Of course, there are many more restaurants and bars in the old village.

The cottage is cosy and perfect for a holiday rental of 2 or 4 people. It’s delightful to wake up in the morning and see the sailing boats setting off across the étang de Thau and as the day progresses watch local people arrive with their boats to enjoy waterside life. There is a table outside with space for 4 to dine or have breakfast alongside a beautiful smelling jasmine and blue plumbago. There is a parking space reserved in the private car park for your car.

The ground floor open plan living area, includes a sitting area with TV (some in English), sofa and chairs for 4, a large dining table with 4 chairs and a kitchen with large fridge and freezer, washer with dryer, gas and electric cooker with 4 ring hob, microwave, toaster, coffeepot and all the utensils, glasses and crockery you need for eating and drinking at home inside or on the terrace. Wifi is available free of charge.

Upstairs you will find the main double bedroom with views of the port and across the water to Sète - always delightful, a good size twin-bedroom at the back of the house looking over the local street, and next to this the marble washbasin, shower and WC.

The house includes a good size fridge/freezer, gas and electric oven and hob, microwave and washer dryer. All the utensils, glasses and crockery are available in the house.

This house is reasonably priced for a couple or small family who want a week or two-week holiday rental.

Life is as its always been - slow - everyone has the time of day to say good morning and the main function of getting up is to enjoy the sun, cafe, croissant, wines and oysters. Give it a few hours and the cafes and restaurants along the port and in the village will be busy with lunching and drinking coffee or a local wine. Afternoons can be sent visiting villages, markets, the beach, playing tennis or sightseeing and then it's time for 'apéro' followed by dinner in one of the 20+ restaurants in the village, port or by the local beach.

A little trip out of Marseillan takes you to Meze, Bouzigues, Pezenas, Marseillan Plage, Balurac, Sete or further on visit Nimes, The Camargue and Carcassonne (just follow the Canal du Midi from Marseillan's Etang du Thau)
Vineyards galore line the roads with wine available from a couple of euros if you take a plastic bottle with you!

Customer Reviews

  • My fourth visit to this lovely cottage by the local port. Sitting on the terrace reading my book I can spend hours watching locals arrive with their boats and sail off into the distance. A short stroll brings me to the cafes and restaurants and a few minutes further to the village where I can pick up my provisions if eating at home. Super place for a holiday - will be back.
