About Villa Laroque

The apartment is the lower half of a Spanish style house built into the rock of the hillside in this exclusive development. The apartment itself is on one level though has full access and use of the level below it where a full laundry facility exists.

The apartment is situated in the Domaine des Alberes, which is an exclusive development of villas built into the rock of the hillside, surrounded by lush forests, natural rock formations and all the beauty of unspoilt nature. The Domain is five minutes from Laroque village by car, up a winding road. The uninterrupted panoramic views from the apartment, over the valley floor to the mountains and the sea are hard to describe but best experienced and the view never stays the same, changing moment by moment as nature takes its course.

The owners have taken great care to fully equip the property with everything required to optimise your stay.

We want the apartment to be your "home away from home” and we have tried to think of everything that will make your stay that more enjoyable and special whether for your two week summer holiday, a week’s retreat out of the holiday season or a long term rental. The Kitchen has everything you need for a short or long term stay from heating a Pizza to making a full 3 course meal. We have various plastic containers should you want to pack up for a picnic. Meet some friends and want to invite them for a meal? There is enough cutlery, crockery and glasses to do just that. Arrived and forgotten to bring your shampoo? In our "bits and pieces box” you will find what you have forgotten to get you through until you can get to the shops. No need to buy nail polish remover to use once. Just use what’s in the box!

Bedroom 1 - double with en-suite bathroom. Double wardrobe and draw space provided. Views over the valley. Fan provided.
Bedroom 2 - double room with double cupboard. Door to side terrace. Fan provided.

Bathroom 1 - Large en-suite to bedroom 1. Full size bath with shower, WC and sink. Fully tiled floor and walls.
Bathroom 2 - Modern shower cubicle, WC and basin unit. Fully tiled floor and walls.

Kitchen - Independent and fully fitted with oven, gas hob, microwave, dish washer, fridge/freezer, electric heater and a view!! Modern pans, crockery (including 16 mugs), cutlery, tea towels all provided.

Utility Room - Situated on a separate level this facility has a sink unit, washing machine and drying machine. There is also room for storage and table and chairs, beach umbrella, tennis equipment etc are provided.

Lounge - Modern double sofa bed (wardrobe facility provided), two single armchairs, coffee table and side tables. 32' flat screen TV with DVD player and i-pod compatibility. Double sliding doors onto main terrace.

Dining area - large oak table seats 8.

Other - Cave room a storage area only, but also has a further fridge available for drink storage.

OUTSIDE

The apartment has three distinct terraces that sit facing the valley views. They are surrounded by well kept gardens that are maintained throughout the entire year. To one side of the house is a fruit tree garden which is rugged by nature but contains a number of interesting features.

The communal pool area (pictured) is available from 1st June to 30th September each year and is for the use of the Domaine residents only. It is a short walk from the apartment. The pool area also has table tennis tables and directly across the road is a tennis court.

The domain has a communal, large swimming pool easily reached (approx 10 min walk), that also has a table tennis facility (bats and balls provided). The tennis court sits opposite the pool.

There is a designated parking space directly opposite the apartment for your exclusive use.

Terrace furniture for each terrace which includes, wooden dining table and chairs for the main balcony terrace (pictured), and round table 6 chairs with umbrella for the garden terrace. Four La Fuma sun recliners and coffee tables for use on any terrace.

Sports Equipment for the Beach & Pool
Table tennis bats & ping pong balls, tennis rackets and balls, sun umbrellas for the pool and the beach. 6 small La Fuma Chairs which can be taken to the communal pool and/or the beach. We have pool floats for children and buckets and spades and other fun things for the beach. For the 2014 season we will be adding snorkelling gear and flippers.

We provide quality bed linen, bath/hand & large beach towels for your stay at no additional charge for up to six people. Many of the airlines are limiting weight allowances and offering this facility will allow you to bring other items instead of the basics.

English Satelight TV, DVD & CD player, Books and Games
We have a large TV with English Satellite TV; you can use your iPod but will need to bring your own connection lead. There is a wide selection of CDs, DVDs and books for your enjoyment. We also have playing cards and a number of board games including Monopoly and Scrabble.

Location and Map

Laroque town is five minutes away by car. Shops include a pharmacy, small supermarket, bakery with delightful patisseries and freshly baked bread. There is a take-away pizza parlour, butcher, Post Office with cash machine and newsagent. This amenity is completed by an estate agency, tourist office and an Irish bar which serves food. Finally, there are a number of restaurants available in the village.

A number of further restaurants and shops can be found in the neighbouring villages of St. Genis and Sorede.

A further three minutes away is a small retail estate comprising a large recently built ‘Carrefour’ supermarket very similar to Tesco, a petrol station and a modern garden/hardware centre.

Local shops at Laroque include two bakeries, a small supermarket, butcher, pizza take away, newsagent, pharmacy, cash machine and a number of cafes and restaurants.

10 minutes from the apartment is a substantial Carrefour supermarket, petrol station and DIY centre.

Further local restaurants can be found in surrounding villages including St Genis and particularly at Sorede all of which are reachable within 10 -15 minutes.

The owners have full restaurant and activity recommendations left in the apartment with phone numbers and directions.

The village of Laroque with local restaurants, cafes and shops is just a 5 minute drive.

The domaine has around 100 houses built on it. All are built up the hill and the roads wind their way through them. The pool and tennis court are downhill about a 5–10 minute walk or 1 minute car ride. Everything is on the hillside, so a walk down, means a walk back up!!
The house resides on a cul de sac, there is little passing traffic and this combined with its elevated position provides complete tranquillity.

Coast/Beach
There are a number of beaches available. The closest is at Argeles which is about 15-20 minutes by car. Other beaches include; La Racu, St Cyprien and Canet.

The jewel in the crown of the region is the port of Collioure, about 20 minutes from the apartment which is picture post card pretty.

Golf
St Cyprien is the nearest golf course which is about 30 minutes from the apartment. There is a beautiful mountain course at Falgos but this is 90 minutes drive into the mountains.

Travel
The use of a car is essential. Ryanair and Easy jet fly to this region and Girona/Barcelona (65 minutes) and Perpignan 50 minutes are the nearest airports, though flights can also be found to Nimes 120 minutes. Montpelier 120 minutes and Carcassone 120 minutes.

Distances
Laroque des Alberes for local shops and restaurants, 5 minutes by car. Argeles sur mer 15 minutes by car. Perpignan this is the major city in the area with a full range of shopping and dining opportunities and is 40 minutes by car. Barcelona 120 minutes by car. Carcassonne 110 minutes by car.

Fees and conditions

  • Security Deposit: £200.00
  • Bed linen, bath/hand towels and large beach towels are provided for up to 6 people. End of stay cleaning fee of £85.00.
  • The apartment is always checked & serviced between rentals to maintain high standards.
  • Changeover day is Saturday. We ask for the house to be vacated no later than 10am for it to be serviced and to arrive no sooner than 4pm. Please note that in the months of July and August the apartment will only be rented for a two week duration.

Further Information

The apartment is strictly no smoking please.

A car will be essential during your stay as local amenities cannot easily be reached on foot.

Whilst there are handrails and railings in place, the steep nature of the steps and elevated position of the apartment lead us to suggest that the property would not be suitable for children under the age of 8/9.

Accessibility
The apartment and lower levels are reached by a series of steep steps. We suggest that anyone with impaired mobility would have difficulty using the steps so this would make this property unsuitable.

Multi Lingual team to look after you.
We have a wonderful committed friendly team who look after the apartment all year round doing cleaning maintenance, gardens and grounds and who look after our international guests during the season and all year round. Between them they speak English, French, Spanish & German. Whatever your nationality you will receive a warm welcome and know there is someone to help you who lives locally on the Domaine during your vacation. The whole property, apartment and garden terraces are maintained to a very high standard.

On arrival, we have a representative (English, French, Spanish and German spoken) who will either arrange to meet you or leave the keys at an agreed location. They will be happy to run through the workings of the apartment and will be available in the event of any kind of emergency. In addition, a welcome pack will be given outlining useful local information and places of interest/phone numbers etc.

Turnaround day
Our apartment is rented from Saturday – Saturday. We would ask that you vacate the apartment no later than 10am. You can arrive at the apartment from 4pm onwards. NB - For the months of July and August the apartment is only available to rent for a two week period. All other months, one week is the minimum period. From the months of October to April we will be happy to negotiate a mid-week arrival and departure to take advantage of cheaper flights.
