About La Peyre

This former farmhouse and adjoining buildings were extensively modernized in 2003, and redecorated again in 2014/2015.

A 12m x 6m pool and 10m x 6m pool house were constructed in 2003.

The house enjoys an extremely secluded position on top of a slight hill with views across rolling countryside. This would make a lovely holiday venue for an extended family with grandparents and/or teenagers.

Five bedrooms and six bathrooms/WCs altogether.

The main house has 3 bedrooms en-suite, a large kitchen/diner with a 6-burner hob and 2-oven range. There are two further bedrooms en-suite.

Modern Kitchen area: Well-equipped with 6-burner hob and 2-oven range. Microwave, Large fridge /freezer, Dishwasher. Pretty tiled floor throughout. Exposed wooden beams and cream wood units. The kitchen has a large dining room attached which gives you a lovely open plan area.

Kitchen/Diner: Table and 6 chairs, Woodburning stove, Chaise longue, armchair, music system with CDs.

Living Rooms:
The lounge has UKTV and DVDs; there is a large selection of English films and the owners have left boardgames for all the family to play. The lounge also enjoys air-con for those really hot evenings. Two sofas and one arm chair. The lounge has one large window with views over the countryside, with another overlooking the pool. A very comfortable room.

Breakfast Room: An unusual additional sitting area away from the central kitchen/diner area. Has two yellow sofas, a coffee table, dresser/bookshelves, a dining table and 4 chairs. This room also enjoys air-con for those quiet cool moments.

Utility Room in adjoining building: Washing machine, sink, iron, ironing board. Clothes rack .

Three bedrooms in main house:
Bedroom 1: Master Bedroom. Very large with king-size bed, en-suite bathroom with tiled floor and walls. Air con. Antique-style wardrobe. Wooden flooring. Views over countryside.
Bedroom 2: Double bed with en-suite hammam shower, WC and wash basin. Wooden floors.
Bedroom 3: Twin single beds with built-in wardrobe. Armchair, chest of drawers.
Bathroom: Shower cubicle, WC, washbasin.
Landing provides shared air con for bedrooms 2 and 3

In separate building adjoining.
Bedroom 4: Double bed with en-suite shower, WC and basin.
Bedroom 5: Twin single beds with en-suite shower, WC and basin.

OUTSIDE

There is a large enclosed garden with a private 12m x 6m pool, naturally heated by the sunlight and which is always quite warm in the summer months. There is a pool alarm.

The property has a delightful enclosed garden surrounded by Cypress, fig and almond trees.

There is a large terrace outside with barbecue and seating for 10+.

The garden is quiet and peaceful with the nearest house and road some 500 meters away. It is enclosed and safe for children.

To access the house, there is a long private drive winding up from the road.

The main entrance to the house leads into a spacious hallway with sideboard and mirror.

Two groundfloor bedrooms are to be found just beside the main house. Each has its own en-suite shower and are suitable for the elderly or those using a wheelchair, although they are not specifically adapted. The main house is accessible in a wheelchair via the front door, while inside the house there is a standard step up into the dining area and a very small step down into the lounge. The ground floor toilet is easily accessible.

"Wow, what a fantastic place!
The whole family, including granny and the dogs have just had a fantastic family holiday. La Desirade is a fabulous, spacious farmhouse surrounded by beautiful countryside, fruit trees on one side and sunflowers on the other and the views are breathtaking. The property was spacious and very comfortable, it was easily accessible for walking aids and had sufficient room for everyone to have their own space. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed to give the home-from-home feel. The separate double ensuite rooms were great for the older kids and friends. The garden is secluded, which gives total privacy and is not overlooked at all. The pool was perfect and in use all day, every day and we made good use of the BBQ too. All in all, we had the best holiday and the property exceeded all our expectations. We visited some fabulous places whilst there; Revel, which has a fantastic market on Saturday, and Carcassonne, which has a beautiful walled town. Mirepoix is a very pretty little village, well worth a visit. We would definitely recommend the property as you have everything that you need there and on your doorstep. It was immaculately clean and all well maintained. The owners made sure we were well looked after and the housekeeper was most helpful with any questions we had".

The outhouses were perfect for older children and gave them some space too. The main house was great for the rest of the family and everyone loved the pool! I'd definitely recommend this property and would love to go again".
