About Maison de la Cloche

If you are looking for a family-friendly property with easy access to French village life, a market, a boulangerie and comfortable restaurants, then this is the place for you!

Located in the village of Pouzolles, just ten minutes from the popular town of Pézenas and 20 minutes from Béziers, this is an excellent base from which to explore the Languedoc and its wonderful sandy beaches, ancient villages and rugged National Park.

The property is spacious and offers elegant, generously proportioned rooms. The outside area is equally generous in its space and proportions. This is a superior property to a standard 'village house', and after being in the same family for over a hundred years has been lovingly renovated by its new Scandinavian owners.

Enter the entrance hall and up the stairs to the main living area where you will find the kitchen, living room with comfy sofas, and a dining room which opens onto a large tiled terrace for outside dining. There is a brand new shower room on this level.

The second floor offers three bedrooms - two doubles and a twin room. There is a large family bathroom on this floor.

The outside area comprises a small garden with a beautiful old well (secured for children) and a covered terrace area. This is a delighful spot to sit comfortably in the shade. This leads to the large pool area with solar-heated pool shower and pool house/summer kitchen. The pool house offers a double bedroom, and a bathroom. There is also a substantial summer kitchen with microwave, oven, fridge, dishwasher and dining covers for 8 people. You'll also find the barbecue here for summer grilling. The pool house is practically autonomous and would make a great place for grandparents or teenagers to stay.

The pool area faces south and there is both sun and shade throughout the day so you can choose to sunbathe or relax in the shade - just as you wish. You're on holiday!

Please note that Maison de la Cloche is in 34480 Pouzolles, not Pouzols (another village in the region).
Pouzolles is a ”circulade” village - very typical of the region - with the XV-century chateau and
church in the middle, and the village houses built in circles around. This was originally as a defence structure against attacks from neighbouring villages!

Amenities in the village include a Bistro-Bar-Café, one Café, one Boulangerie/Patisserie, a small grocery shop (Vidal), a medical centre and dentist, post office.
Nearest supermarket (Super-U) is 6 km, in Roujan.
There is an outdoor food market every Friday morning 8-12 in the village square park, all year round.
And the al fresco dinner and dancing in the park on Friday nights, in July and August.
Boule/petanque can be played in the park.
There are several good wine domaines in the village, which offer wine-tasting visits. A dégustation de vin in this region is a must-do activity!
There is a beautiful XV-century chateau which provides a lovely back-drop from the terrace of Maison de la Cloche.
Pézenas is just ten minutes away with a great Saturday morning market and a big variety of restaurants and artisan shops - well worth at least one visit.
The ancient town of Béziers is about 20 minutes in the opposite direction. A good way to explore this interesting little town is to take Le Petit Train Touristique from outside the theatre. This will transport you around the main sights of the town and will even take you as far as the Neuf Ecluses (the famous Nine Locks) of the Canal du Midi.
The beaches are just half an hour away and there is a choice of resorts with promenades and cafés (Valras Plage), or almost untouched (Vendres or Sérignan).
The Haut Languedoc National Park commences about half an hour north of Pouzolles and there are countless excellent hiking paths.
