About The Garden Apartment
The Garden apartment is a wonderful apartment, perfect for a romantic couples getaway. It has been newly refurbished and furnished in order to provide comfortable accommodation, with one double bedroom, a garden with a private swimming pool, and a terrace and lawns adjacent to some wonderful vineyards.
This apartment is located on the ground floor, and has a large open plan lounge/kitchen/dining room, complete with French doors opening out onto the terrace, swimming pool (10m x 5m) and gardens.
The kitchen is new and fully fitted; it has new appliances including an electric hob, a microwave/grill, a fridge, an electric kettle, a toaster and a coffee maker.
There is one bedroom in this apartment, which is a double with a large mirrored wardrobe and a new digital French TV and DVD player.
The bathroom is very luxurious with a WC, basin and another large mirrored cupboard.
This apartment has free WiFi throughout, English Satellite TV and electric central heating for those wishing to rent during the colder months.
The garden is one of this apartments best features, with French doors opening out onto a wonderful terrace, garden and private swimming pool. Al Fresco dining is made easy thanks to the BBQ, where you can cook your meals with local produce whilst overlooking the vineyards which are adjacent to the terrace and lawns.

- One set of towels and bed linen per guest are provided within the rental cost of the property. Additional sets may be provided on request at a cost of €15/set/person. The towels must under no circumstances be used as beach or swimming towels and the linen only used on the beds it was provided for.

- Security deposit to be paid to the owner directly via bank transfer at the same time as the balance payment of 9 weeks prior to arrival.
Further InformationThere is a 3 bedroom villa with its own private swimming pool available also, located on a separate adjacent plot. Both properties together could sleep up to 8 people. (See reference MARS105 for further details.)
The owner is kindly offering private boat trips to his guests.

Please leave the property in the same clean and tidy condition that it was found in. If it is not in the same condition, there will be a 60 euros charge for it to be cleaned by the housekeeper.
We are Lisa and Derek and we have been living in Marseillan for over 10 years now successfully operating our self-catering holiday villa and apartment. This keeps us very busy in between occasionally sampling the local beverages!
I am retired from business but keep very busy running our bookings and maintaining swimming pools etc. Lisa works part-time locally as a guide/ interpreter for a well known winery here.
We first came on holiday to Marseillan in 1995 and fell in love with its timeless French charm and the beauty of the surrounding countryside and beaches etc. Marseillan Ville is a picturesque, unspoilt old harbourside village located on the Etang de Thau (a sea water lagoon on the Mediterranean) famous for oysters and seafood. It is often likened to the St. Tropez of 50 years ago! The Canal du Midi starts at Marseillan, originally built in the 17th century to transport the abundance of local wines to the Bordeaux/Atlantic Region of France. You may have seen Marseillan featured on Chef Rick Stein's recent TV series where he travelled down the Canal sampling the local culinary delights here!
Our Villa, ‘Belles de Mai’ with its own private pool, and our entirely separate Garden Apartment 'Beau Jardin' (Ref MARS105) also with its own private pool, are located right on the vineyards, 300 meters from the Lagoon, 1 km from the Port and 3 kms from the long sandy Mediterranean beaches which run between Sete and Cap d'Agde. Both properties are within easy, level walking distance alongside the lagoon to the village centre and harbourside restaurants etc.
There is an excellence choice of sailing and water sports available in Marseillan alongside the famous flamingos! The well-known international marina and top-class golf courses of Cap D'Agde and Beziers are also nearby.

The flat is even better than the description, and we have spent several happy holidays there.The flat is really comfortable, and the private pool a fantastic luxury. Derek and Lisa are both very helpful, and Marseillan close by with all the restaurants and culture you might want. Something for everyone, and we hope to return in the future."

We found the apartment to be clean, well decorated and equipped and attractively furnished. The outside area has trees for shade if required, two tables and chairs give a choice of whether to sit in the sun or shade. There is a sturdy built in barbecue. The pool, which was checked and treated every morning, was a real bonus. Walls and hedges shelter it from the wind.
Derek and Lisa were welcoming and helpful; their local knowledge very useful
The location is ideal, just a short distance from the lagoon and an easy and attractive walk along its edge to Marseillan. Marseillan Plage is about 4km away.
Marseillan stole our hearts. To sit in one of the lovely restaurants on the port is a joy. The town is clean, well maintained and free from the usual tourist/beach shops, with the exception of one small gift shop. The majority of buildings in the centre are traditional. There are several squares with trees giving shade if you just want to sit and watch the world go by. When we visited in September it was just busy enough to give atmosphere without being too busy. Perhaps its the Mediterranean and living in such a lovely place, which makes the locals so friendly.
We took bikes with us and used them almost every day. There are dedicated cycle tracks at the side of the lagoon. To cycle along in the sunshine overlooking the Lagoon and the boats on the Canal is not to be missed. You can also ride along side of the Canal Du Midi. The track here is just soil and quite narrow in places, but well worth riding to Bagnas, a UNESCO World Heritage Site for wild life. There is also a lock on the canal here. The plage is about 4km away, an easy bike ride on mostly dedicated cycle tracks.
Boats, kayaks, paddle boards, fishing rods, bikes and motor boats can be hired on the port by the lagoon.There is also a kite surfing school. Boat trips to the Oyster beds are available.
We would not hesitate to recommend both the accommodation and Marseillan."

We arrived early evening and was greeted by Derek who was very welcoming, the apartment was very clean and tidy and had everything you wanted in it and more. The pool and terrace were just for our use which was spotless, BBQ, tables and chairs.
You can walk to the harbour in about 5 to 10mins which is lovely with a few restaurants.
You can also walk to a large sandy beach in about 20 minutes which has more restaurants or drive to another 6km to another sandy beach which goes on forever.
I can't recommend Derek and Lisa's apartment highly enough, very central and they were very helpful and informative.
Also we took our 10 month old dog with us, which they were no problems.
We will definitely return there."

What a little gem! The most perfectly appointed apartment, with exclusive use of a pool, in a secluded location. The sea is a 100 yard walk away and the site of major oyster production in the region.
The layout of the apartment has been thought out very carefully - the sockets are all in the right place for hairdryers and other appliances. It is immaculately decorated and maintained. The equipment is extensive; everything necessary for self-catering if preferred.
Marseillan has a wealth of restaurants offering good food at varying prices. We thoroughly enjoyed a meal at Chez Philippe. Meze is a slightly larger port, but just as pretty. Just outside Meze is the Roman villa at Loupian where guided tours will show the extensive mosaics discovered on the site.
Derek and Lisa are delightful hosts - the pool is cleaned every morning by 09.30 and no question is too much trouble. We would definitely recommend a stay there."

This little ground floor apartment was very comfortable for two. The King size bed was really great and just what you needed after a hard day at the beach. However, although the bed suited my 6' 4" frame the shower was a bit snug!!! The apartment was clean, tidy and well stocked. Our hosts Derek and Lisa was lovely and provided us with a complimentary ticket to the Noilly Prat distillery which was well worth the visit. Derek was very knowledgeable about the locality and where we could hire bikes which was the perfect way to get around. The apartment was 10 minutes walk from the town where there were some fantastic restaurants and a beautiful marina. All in all a lovely break and we would not hesitate to recommend the garden apartment to others (as long as they don't book when we want to go!)"

This is our second stay at the garden apartment. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. Sole use of the pool was a real bonus. We have visited Fance for a number of years and feel this area is one of the best as it really feels you are on a relaxing holiday. I would recommend this apartment for anybody wanting a relaxed vacation, there are plenty of places to eat well and there are lots of places to visit."
