About Chateau Montblanc
This house was built on the site of a 14th century Renaissance castle owned by Marguerite de Navarre, the sister of Francois I.
There are still many 14th century architectural details to be admired, although the 17th century dominates. The property consists of a main house and a maison d'amis, has great character and can boast that Francois I, renaissance King of France slept here! It has been recently and lovingly restored with antique furniture and the accommodation is spacious and comfortable.
The house has original stone façades with high French windows and views of the pool and garden.
From the garden you enter the sitting room of the maison d'amis. This boasts a working fireplace and a well equipped corner kitchen (with dishwasher).
Stairs take you up to the first floor, with two twin bedded rooms (15m² and 13 m²) with windows looking out onto the garden and pool, a bathroom with bath and shower cubicle, and a separate W.C. Both bedrooms have aircon.
Turning stairs climb up to the second floor, two more twin bedrooms(14m² and 13m²) looking out over the garden, shower room with hand basin and separate W.C. Both bedroom have aircon.
The main house boasts a huge sitting room (42m²) with it's impressive wooden ceiling and arched stone fireplace, and a stairwell up to the first floor leading to a twin bedded room with balcony looking out over the garden and pool, another twin bedded room with a window looking out over the pool, a large bathroom with exposed stone and paint effects, equipped with twin basins, bath, separate shower and window looking out over the pool, a separate W.C, and a large study area which can be used as an extra single bedroom if needed.
Another sitting room door leads through to a remarkable patio, which is just the place for eating in the stone cooled shade when the sun is high, while admiring the carved stone details all around.
With doors leading from this patio into the kitchen, eating outside is easy. The kitchen is fully equipped and light and airy, with a dining area at one end and a laundry room equipped with washing machine and dryer at the other.
From the dining area there are doors out to the garden and the shady patio courtyard, also an opening into the sitting room. At the other end of which is a door which leads into the entrance lobby and the front door. Out the front door, and there is a mainly graveled forecourt (80m²), with room to park up to 4 cars comfortably and securely.
There is aircon in the 4 bedrooms of the 'second' house (the maison d'amis). The main house is well adapted to the French summer climate and generally stays nice and cool during the summer, for this reason the bedrooms in the main house have no need for aircon. Visited by one of our team - highly recommended!
The property exceeded our expectations, the general quality in the property of the equipment was excellent and plentiful. The house was very clean, Michel and the femmes de ménage were very friendly and helpful, we hope we left the house in the condition we found it in! The booking procedure was a personal service, with questions answered promptly by Jill, and a completely stress free experience. We were all very pleased with the holiday. I am not sure I could let strangers in if I had such a beautiful house, we felt honored to spend a week there.
