About La Plantation
This elegant Manor House and Garden Cottage was originally part of a tobacco plantation in the 1830’s, and stands in mature gardens alongside the River Isle in the small village of Saint-Médard-de-Mussidan. Superbly converted by its English owners, the ‘sechoir’ (tobacco drying barn), is an ideal property for larger groups of holiday makers, business conventions or those simply wishing for extra space to unwind when visiting this renowned area of south west France. The famous châteaux and vineyards of Saint-Émilion are found less than 48km away, Bergerac, with daily boat trips, markets and shops is a 15-minute drive, and a little further the Monbazillac vineyards are worthy of a visit. The main house consists of a large, light filled living room, perfect for a get together with views over the river. Equally the wisteria covered side terrace that leads down to the rear lawns and onto the private swimming pool has plenty of areas for dining or relaxing together. The 10 bedrooms all of which are found on the first floor, have en-suite bathrooms. The stone garden cottage tucked away, just at the other side of the Manor House, comes with a fully equipped kitchen, living room and two ground floor bedrooms, one of which leads out to the private terrace and lawn, and is suitable for those searching for a little more privacy or with some mobility restrictions. The upper mezzanine is also open for those wishing to sleep upstairs. The beautiful riverside village of Brantôme has great restaurants and canoe hire 53km, the stunning medieval town of Sarlat has a Saturday local market and all facilities and is 88km away, while Bordeaux is 55km. Shop 2km, restaurant 100m.
